Origin of the Festival
In ancient China, there was a tradition of planting willows during the Qingming Festival. Historically, the earliest roadside tree planting was initiated by a man named Wei Xiaokuan in Shaanxi over 1,400 years ago.

Ecological Value
Arbor Day is established to advocate that people plant trees and encourage people to cherish trees. Trees play a very important role in human survival and in the ecological environment of the earth.

Tree Planting Slogan
On March 12, Arbor Day, everyone comes to plant little trees — one tree, two trees, three or four; after planting, fertilize them so saplings can grow tall. Everyone lends a hand to green the earth.
